You can set the valve clearance to factory spec but I would recomend that you ride it for a while before you do that. The clearance will tighten up as the valves seat themselves.

the rocker arm has a given distance (free space) to the adjuster bolt that regulates your valves its called a tappet now if this is out of spec it has a tendency to tick loudly as it opens and closes .getting the clearance correct can remedy this noise and acheive the best performance .but there is a break in period that should be done then adjustments can be made for the specfic set clearances

keep this in mind.....Raptor motors are noisy by nature. there is alot goin on in there compared to the far superior two stroke.. even when your valves get adjusted, you will still have some form of ticking noise happening.

And to think this was supposed to be a quick and easy deal to move this quad to buy something else............

Remember that valves are not your friend. They hate you and have conspired to get you.

Adjusting valves is draconian for most people who need their motors serviced themselves, especially on a clapped out engine that requires it frequently.
