Definitely want to check your clutch rod.
If it still has the ball and cup...trash that and get the 89 style with the flat torrington bearing.
I've seen more than a few 'clutch replacements' and the newer style was all that was needed.

A quick list of common parts that I would recommend. (just cuz that's what I use  )

There is a clutch mod that a guy came up with that uses one fiber from a 400EX. There is also a few other parts involved. He runs them on his daughters CT350 cylinder with no problems.

If you're interested, I can get that for you and post up here.

clutch mod with 400ex plate is simple ,i had it on my dune/drag 310r
i had a tusk clutch in but i noticed it started to slip after a long weekend of drag racing and hard duning
u will need cr500 springs,trx250r oil drain bolt washers ,and one 400ex steel plate and new 250r fibers
take out one of ur 250r steels and replace with 400ex steel
new fibers
drop cr500 springs in and put one washer between spring and spring bolt for each spring and spring bolt on pressure plate
clutch pull will be a little tougher but i didnt have any slippage for a whole season of drag racing
