My friend has a Tecate4. It's one sweet little machine, indeed.
They are a sweet quad but they have issues like th Zilla no where to find parts or people how know anything about them. Thats why I created this site because image 10 years from now how hard is it going to be to get help with 2-stroke motors.
i hear that. a friend of mine told me today that there was a tecate 4 in the photo ad for 1000 i told him to buy it and we can make a deal on my suzuki lt250r for that tecate and some cash

i'm hoping he takes it. as for the issues with tecates and zillas those are the two quads that i want to buy. thats fine either are fast enough stock. not to say that my brain will tell me otherwise but both are quality machines that i'm glad are overlooked because that makes them attainable at a resonable price. so if anybody has a tecate 4 or zilla in half ass shape let me know i should be in the market for one in the near future. oh yeah speaking of which i got a lead today on what is supposed to be a mint zilla. the guy that was telling me about it said his friend had it and was scared of it so it was for sale for 2500 damn i wish i had 2500 laying around

The only reason they dont get respece is becasue its not a yamaha and its old...and opsoleate....but yeah...they are sweeeeet bikes..I would mind having one! ;)
old- yes obsolete - no way when is a fast 250 two stroke obsolete never my frined never. 250r, LT250s, and tecates have never been and will never be obsolete. if only kaw had not lived in honda's shadow you never know every damn race might be riding a kaw think about it!!! actually i can't say much about the tecate suspension because i've never actually ridden one. has to handle better than a J arm banshee. then again my joun deere lawn tractor ghandles better than my J arm banshee. j/k
Our local shop owner has an awesome one and my friend has an 86 Tecate 3 that I was riding around a few years ago. He just got done painting the frame and just put the engine in. That thing is hell-on-wheels. Why did they ever get rid of 3-wheelers anyway? People die in airplanes and cars but they aren't illegal. Just because a few morons hurt themselves doesn't mean they are dangerous, haha. I haven't seen many respectable Tecates around lately. I don't know where they've all gone!
My buddy just picked up a 83 Honda 250R ATC it is sweet. We found that the motor is ported and polished to hell. He is buying a DG Exhaust for it tomorrow. So it is going to rip. especially since it is air cooled it has a huge weight savings over the liquid cooled. Don't get me wrong the liquid cooled is definatly the way to go but this 250 R is going to be insane. I'll try to take some pictures of it ASAP.
sounds sweet, can't wait to see some picts. you don't need the liquid cooler if your out just ripping thru some dunes or open fields at high speeds
Last year we saw some guy with an old 250R trike that looked like it was off the showroom floor. He was babying it so I don't know what was done to it, but even if you hated them you had to admire this one. Definately try to get some pics of that up soon. I'd love to see it.
a buddy of mine has a mint 250r trike. he also has a nice 350x. anyway i wish i could fine a nice tecate 4 cheap i'd probably sell one of my banshees if i got a tecate 4.
Yeah its sad that the tecate doesnt get much respect. They are fast, light machines. My buddy has one and that thing rips. In my opinion they look better then the LT's and up there with the R's. I actually bought a tecate frame off e bay a few months ago and have just started a project with it that will probably take some time, my 250R is getting some new mods first. But I do have a 91 KX250 motor that Im going to put in it. Just made the motor mounts for it last weekend. You LT250 riders think its hard finding aftermarket parts, thats nothing compared to finding Tecate aftermarket parts. You really have to look hard. If anyone know of any places that have aftermarket parts for them let me know. I know of a couple but would always appreciate others.
hey can you PM me the places where you found the aftermarket tecate parts. i'd really apprecaite it when i finally get one.
would you pay 2800.00 for this stroked tecate.Guy say's its stroked to 315,but first ride he got rear ended and the motor only has 10 minutes on it.
here is a pic......

I think it's nice!what do you think?

looks sweet i wish i had 2800 i'd buy it. and it's got a 315 stroker in it too. damn that a nice tecate
Guy lives near me and i am trying to negotiate on the price. His buddy hit him in the rear at an angle and caused the quad to roll.Messed up the bars and cracked front fender, but it's fixable. We fired it up and it sounds mean..kinda like my KX500.The only thing that bothers me is parts availability.
Do you know if kawasaki still makes plastic and other parts or have they discontinued most of it?
Man I wish i knew what to do..there is alway used parts....maybe i should just go out and get me a banshee. It will be stock, but brand new.I cant see anything wrong with that?Hehehe

Nice quad but I heard the tecate is really expensive to maintain. I heard you have to rebuild the motor all the time. I this true?
man thats such a sweet lookin quad. I want one. I'm in a rut for cash here lately though so I'll have to stick with the 4-poke for now. SPeaking of that, I just saw one on e-bay tonight, the bid was at like 1800 or something. it wa smissing the kinda L-shaped plastic on the right side. Looked pretty decent other than that
87 Tecate 3

My buddy has an 87 Tecate 3 and he's had some trouble getting some parts. Decals are also hard to get if you want to make it look stock.
