why ? if you want a 400ex or shee buy one and if it's a true drag quad you want the lightest thing you can not a bunch of brkts to hold different plastic is this a show or a go pc ?
Actually, the 400ex plastic is about the same weight and i'm pretty sure that the 400ex seat is actually lighter then the lt250r seat. The rear plastic bolts right on with no mods. The seat bolts to the plastic so no mods there. I had to fabricate 2 brackets by the radiator for the front plastic to bolt to. The brackets dont even weigh a pound.

I went with the 400ex plastic not because i want a 400ex or wanted it to look like one. I went with the plastic because i wanted a different look other than oem dumbo ears or crappy Maier plastic that all looks the same for an LT250r and doesn't fit right.

With 400ex plastic, you have 3 or 4 different manufactures of plastic. They have different styles and different colors. Hell, you can use yellow 400ex plastic and get a blue hood or use a blue seat and have quadracer colors but with a new upgraded design. To me, it wasn't about using Honda plastic or trying to make my bike look like a 400ex (yes i currently have the stock 400ex plastic on but will be ordering aftermarket in a different color) I wanted to give the lt250r an upgraded look. There are 2 options for lt250r plastic. OEM and Maier. The designs are both the same. Its an old look and not one company has done anything to upgrade the design of the lt250r plastic. I decided to do it myself.

I chose the the 400ex plastics because the stock lt fenders were milled. so i made put the stock ex fenders i had on it, then decided to get new plastics and just went with blue maier race cuts. got em off ebay pretty cheap, over all looks awesome im happy with it.

Your bike does look great. I would like to upgrade my plastic and get some aftermarket. The one piece front end is nice because the gas tank covers are built into the front fender. The race cut design is sweet and it eliminates the headlights.

I dont know what color to go with. Right now my bike is going through some major changes with the streetbike motor. The frame is silver and i'm thinking about going with some white 400ex plastic. The Lakers plastic on ebay looks good and Fullbore is top quality. Maier would be my last choice but it still looks great.

If your looking for Aftermarket Footpegs, I do believe that the ltz400 & Kfx400 Sawp to the 87-90 years, & since the 87-90 footpegs fit monto the 85-86. The z00 & Kfx400 should work on the 85-86 also.

i have got a 03 z400 rear shock coming via ebay for my 91. auction ended at $15, not too bad if i do say so myself. cant wait to install it. since I've owned it, it has never had any damper whatsoever in the rear.

so, just got done installing the Z400 rear shock on my 91 lt250r. it took some time on the bench grinder to get it to fit the LT linkage but turned out good. the piggy back ressie rubs a little on the intake boot but nothing major. the ass end sits a little higher then before (maybe my spring was worn). for 15 bucks, you cant go wrong. the shock feels way better than the factory unit. this weekend it will have to prove itself at the dunes.
