Shock options for 85-86

I know this topic has been posted on here many times but it seems like I keep coming up with the same answer, nada. I can't really afford a nice set of works right now so I am looking to find a alternative oem shock for the rear, the rear I have now is way to soft and leaking and doesn't look like a good candidate for rebuilding. I've looked at a couple buddies quads and on ebay for cheap shocks that look like they might fit. I figure if I could get a used rear for $50 or so I would be doing all right and if it doesn't fit, oh well. I'm not sure the length of any of these shocks but it looks like maybe(big maybe) A predator 500 Fox might work, saw one with a Buy It Now for $65 shipped. Anyone know where I could find out the length of this and other shocks? The stocker is something like 15" correct?? Also a buddies raptor 660 with remote rezzy looks like it might fit although it seems a little long. Anyone tried anything other than the z400 on the newer lt's??

im probably gunna go with the 700 shock, found a few for 50 bucks. also before i buy anyone know if any stock shocks has clicker preload adjustments?
dkhargett, THANKS FOR THE PICTURE!

You said that was a banshee shock, was it stock or something else.

Either way, its good to know. I dont run an airbox, so I shouldn't have to worry about clearance.
No clearance shouldnt be an issue with it blaster....nnnon the shee I have has a clicker pre-load adjustment on it not sure about the others
What about with a airbox is clearance gonna be an issue then? I ride in too much water to lose the airbox that's for sure.
thanks jsmstorm
its stock i had to cut the airbox in half but i am gunna close it in with some alluminume
sdlt500r what all exactly do you do when rebuilding a shock for $140??

new seal head, bottom out bumper, oil, nitrogen charge, and tear down and assembly. and shipping back to you. shaft has to have nice chrome, no pitting or rust, or its not worth rebuilding.
And how would the turnaround be on that?

3 days the most. i have all the parts for lt250r's in stock.

if your shock needs anything else, price will be a bit more. won't know for sure till the shock is pulled apart.
heres a question, anyone know if a shock is still rebuildable if the resevoir is collapsed? by that i mean where the fitting is that whole part of the cylander is pushed in? i have two shocks like that, one is a clicker that i would like to rebuild thanks
I put a banshee rear on mine bolted right up
What year is the banshee?
