as mosy of you probably know our riding land is in constant jeapordy (i think thats spelled wrong) does anybody belong to the american sand association (ASA) i get their news letter every couple of months. i know what most of you east coasterners are gonna say "we don't have sand here" yeha i know but doesn't every 2 stroek guy dream of going to places like glamis, pismo, oregon dunes, sand lake dunes. i know that i do. there are dunes all over the US. even the dunes that i ride in central western michigan are in constant danger of closing. they ahve gone to dB testing for sound and are changing rules every year. they won't expand they say too many people in and out. the entire town thrives around those dunes and some ASSHOLES wanna shut them down by complaining about noise. in glamis they take more and more lane every year from your fellow 2 stroke riders. this is stupid and we need to fight back against the unexplained closures of lane. they closed something like 500 acres of glamis before to save a weed. it's out ragious what eco nuts get away with. these are the same people that have made our favorite quads disappear from order sheets and dealer showrooms. if you don't jion the ASA then join some type of group that helps our fight against closures. if everyone across the counrty worked at this by just joining a group to fight it then it will benefit us all. you never know one day they could be trying to shut down where you ride. and the people youd think would care the least would be people in cali. well they have it the worst. they have the best dunes in the world and are fighting to keep them. the ASA website is http://www.americansandassociation.org. you never know theland you save might be your own someday

I know the place I usually ride just closed down because people going out there an smashing windshields and crap like that. Really pisses me off when you have stupid people out there like that. It just ruins it for everyone.

It's a good think I know the guy that owns the land, I just need to go talk to him to see if I can still ride there.

Think before you do, you just might be ruining it for everyone!!!
is that the place in your videos??
49,000 acres of glamis reopened...50,000 closed

i was checking out dirt wheels mag online and found that on 6/10/2003 49,000 of glamis acres that were shut down to protect the plant that 370banshee mentioned above along with some animals was reopened. for more info on this check out this site http://www.dirtwheelsmag.com/detail.asp?id=203

but then on 8/11/03 they were in the process of closing 50,000 acres in a different part of glamis for another plant. so hopefully in 10 years this section will be reopened. again check out this link

this is why i say join the asa. they fight against stupid closuers like this. if nothing else go to their website and sign a few petitions. it's worth a shot.
i totally agree. even though i don't ride in glamis, there thousands of people who do. you never know when the nearest woods, sand dunes or your favorite riding areas might get shut down to save a damn bug or something stupid like that. JOIN THE ASA NOW!!!
still being a newbe to this sight, the more and more i read the post's you guys put out the more i really start to enjoy this sight. and enjoy talking with people like you!! on that note, i know what you guys are talking about, with the whole losing land thing. i live in upstate New York, and fairly close to a large state park. over the last few years the state has pushed it's way in and bought up thousands of acres. and literly cut our rideing area down to nill. however our regastration fees are going up again this year, over the years due to the total lack of desanated atv trails in our area the money has been used for the snowmobile trails. i ride them in the winter as well, but they have there own trail fund. this is the New York "forever wild" goal i guess. and as of a few months ago they are now trying to rid the land of snowmobiles as well. i think there is a war a bruing, and this ol squid isn't going to take it laying down! deff. join a club or assc. the only way we are ever going to win, "power in numbers" right.........

thats what i like to hear. we need to stand up and stick it to these tree hugging liberals that hate anything that doesn't get 40 mpg and have street tires. sucks that your land is getting closed. fight it as much as you can
oh trust me i will! give up is not in the vocabulary. not only that but i am severly pissed about the fact that they are turning this place in to a rich mans play ground! and leaving nothing for the working people like us!

*Sniff *Sniif...this thread brings tears to my eyes.
*** you rock hahaa! This thread may be old, but
the issue still remains! Dont let the tree huggers win!
Support the sand movement!!! Every year we fight to
keep Pismo open...thanks for all the support!
and almost 4 years later i still stand behind that post 100%.. i'm still a member of the ASA and will probably bump up to a paying member this year... any organisation commited to the cause of saving riding land should be supported... not only by the people in the affected area but everywhere... this dedication and loyality to fellow riders shows the tree huggers that no matter if you personally ride that land or not you still care abouti the use of the land for all OHV enthusiasts.. the reasonless closing of land is BULLSHIT... if anyone knows of any other ogranisations liek the ASA please contact them... tell them to check us out on e2s.. or is nothing else please PM me with contact details for these organisations. and i will do my best to see they get the exposure needed on e2s to help their cause and member base

Reminds me when Kevin1x posted Guadalupe Dunes, a place I never rode but the pics looked like a great place to ride.
I don't understand how they can close Glamis over a weed.. There's people that grew up there..
Did you guys know Glamis used to rent donkeys? lol but yeah, before the atv, atc & dirtbike existed Glamis culture existed.
300,000 on a good weekend, $25 per vehicle... That's major loot to keep the dunes fully open!
Pismo has already been raped for good miles of riding land too. Their reason is to preserve two eggs from a bird..
I'm sorry and it might not sound right or fair but I'm a duner not a birdwatcher!

We had an episode last Glamis trip where a friend's Banshee broke down and a rail pulled over, tossed us a strap.
It's hard to find help on a lonely weekend, and this fellow duner took the time to help us out.
I tried to make a donation to the Glamis Dunes site in thanks for the help & pay for the membership but they cancelled them.
Maybe I'll give those funds to the ASA, good post Chris!

cant the tree huggers have a rainforest to save.....

with out the riders the dunes would just become another waste dump.. doesnt anyone relise how much money is passed around in this industry.. lets not even get into the amount we all put in gas.
These hiker tree huggers make a big stink about our trails but I never see a hiker in the trails lol..
Just us riders..

stuff like this happens all the time around here with snowmobile trails, and if we didnt have snowmobilers in our town, there would be a lot of businesses going out of business. But for the most part tracks are here to stay, so im not to worried for summer riding
Hey Climb, yesterday I talked with the
guy that parks and rec. has placed incharge
of surveying the snowy plovers. He said that
the population has decreased 75% from
2006-2007. Guess what the cause was....cold
weather! Surveys show that they froze to death,
due to abnormally cold weather! NOT ATV'S!!!!!
Mother Nature killed them!! He even admitted to
it!
yeah thats what happens when the population gets to high.. cant wait for mother nature to go after the humans again.. black plaugie
Showtime.. Maybe they should relocate thoser birds since they're so concerned with their well being..
Give us our land back!! Pismo would pull bigger bux on the big weekends like 4th of July and all summer long!!
