Have you OHM tested your stator and ignition coil yet? And deff check your pilot jet. Pilot jet has a lot to do with your idle.
Have you OHM tested your stator and ignition coil yet? And deff check your pilot jet. Pilot jet has a lot to do with your idle.I have a 98 blaster that doesn't want to idle and also likes to hang up after given any throttle.
new cylinder, piston, reeds, carb is clean, and float height correct. passed leakdown test and everything. this thing is really bugging me at this point since it is my wifes quad and want her to be able to ride.
any help is appreciated
I have not ohm tested my stator or ignition coil yet, gotten real busy at work lately so haven't had much time to mess with it.Have you OHM tested your stator and ignition coil yet? And deff check your pilot jet. Pilot jet has a lot to do with your idle.
You still have the TORs system on your carb? And all the wires forr it? OHM test your stator and ignition coil. Another thing to check is the woodruff key on the fly wheel. If they get worn it will severely mess with spark!I have not ohm tested my stator or ignition coil yet, gotten real busy at work lately so haven't had much time to mess with it.
Pilot jet is the stock 32.5 and clean.
Main jet is 230. New boysen power reeds were the last thing replaced and it ran excellent cold with the choke on, but once I ripped it around a little to warm it up to adjust carb, the throttle would hang up and it wouldn't idle at all. Once warm I had to half choke it to get it to start then it would want to rev out till choke got turned off. Then I would try to get somewhat of an idle through the adjustment under the seat and it would sound like the throttle was cracked about 1/4ish by the time it would run on its own.
Compression is a solid 137 after rebuild also
Do you have a leak down tester? It's the only way your gonna know 100 percent sure there's no air leaks.TORS system is there but completely disconnected, I'll ohm test later today or tomorrow and get back with the number.
The woodruff key is good, I had a thought it could be it as well.
I did notice on the 2 stage reeds the smaller of the set didn't quite lay flush? Could that cause this issue I am having? Seems like an air leak but I can't find any air leaks anywhere on the damn thing after replacing crank seals
I bought the Caltric brand off Amazon for the ones I've worked on, never had issues. What spark plug you using??Leak down test was perfect. Even left it for about 35 min and didn't move. Just tested stator and coil tho. I think coil might be my culprit. Looks to be the only one out of spec range. Know a good coil replacement? View attachment 35891

Switch to NGK BR8 plugs, and DEF clean out any old fuel and pull out the fuel petcock on the fuel tank and clean it out good.I'll probably pick one of those up then.
Is the O'Reilly e3 equivalent to the ngk. Thought it would be an ok replacement for break-in. I have the plug that came with the top end cylinder kit I got from rocky mountain I can throw in there. The only other thing I can think is that the gas might be a little old, but I run the same fuel (32.1 premix) in my son's jr50 and that runs great
Me too!!! Damn thing never sends me the confirmation email to finish signing up!!! Either way I'm a TWO STROKE fanatic and will give ya pointers and answer any questions ya got, I prob will learn some things from you. I've rebuilt two stroke dirt bikes, old three wheeler, 3 Suzuki Quadracers, 6 Yamaha blasters. Currently working on one Blaster. Just finished the other blaster. If you need parts I'll dig through my stash. Maybe we can swap parts if need be.I know haha! I tried signing up for blasterforum but I think that whole forum is dead. Can still check out info but can't send messages or anything
Sounds like an air leak to me.I have a 98 blaster that doesn't want to idle and also likes to hang up after given any throttle.

Said it passed leak down test though, I was thinking same thing at first too. At least we have another individual commenting now lolSounds like an air leak to me.
If you still have the TORS system maybe its sucking through that cap some how?Said it passed leak down test though, I was thinking same thing at first too. At least we have another individual commenting now lol
True if that gasket isn't seated properly on carb it will leak.If you still have the TORS system maybe its sucking through that cap some how?
