So whats the most compression you can get out of a stock head?

compression is not just the dome squish and head height it also depends on elevation and port height and area,lots to consider.but to ansewer your question generally you can mill a oem banshee head down .035 (approx 21 cc) and yes you can go even more (alot of guys do .040 and up) but then you run into a situation where your squish clearance is not acceptable for peak rpms and it will often detonate even on race gas which can shock the rings loose and burn up your topend ,you need some clearance (.035-040 is good on most small bore engines ) now there is a time to go alot more like when you can go in and rechamber the factory head domes and that will allow you mill off up to .085 but you can never get a small volume as good as a coolhead with custom domes and also you have significantly taken alot of meat off the head surface that can make it absorb less heat and prone to cracks and possible warpage as they get thin around center water ports after about .070 is removed
