So after 10 years im just getting back into riding..Just picked up a Yamaha Blaster yesterday and she runs with awesome good compression BUT,smokes like a old steam train..I mean this quad will smoke up the whole area im in in less that 2mins lol..
When I talked to the guy over the phone that I bought it from,he told me how bad she was smoking and said it might be rings..Well I know ring won't make it smoke like he was saying and first thing I thought was running way too much oil or crank seals..I drained all the fuel out of the tank and carb bowl then put fresh mixed 40-1 in it..She fired up and OMG,after 30 secs she was smoking so bad I was waiting for fire trucks to show up LOL...
Pretty much want another opinion before ordering the crank bearings and seals so am I correct?Heres a video..

Does the oil level in the transmission go down as you run it? It may be sucking gearbox oil through the pto side crank seal.
Well its funny you said that..I went back outside and check the sight hole and the oil was just touching the glass so I topped it off..Started it and let it run for maybe 3 mins (hoping it cleared out after changing fuel) and didn't..Looked everything over and with in that 3 mins run,the oil was back down to the bottom of the sight hole...
So in your opinion,am I right about changing the crank seal ..Going to have it apart so changing crank bearings also...

Im a car guy and so far,its really easy :) ..I'll post for sure if I need help but so far, everything is good...BUT,im kinda new to working on lower ends (2 strokes) so im sure i'll need help..Im just hoping the seals take care of the issue..

Heres 2 videos..
First one is the Blaster running and you can see how bad its smoking, seal is done..
2nd video shows the seal..I know on car/truck engines, the seal HAS to be flush with the block/timing cover or it will leak right away or very soon down the road so im sure its the same case here..When I took everything off,you can see how bad the seal is off...I have the seals and flywheel puller, just waiting on the Yamalube ...
