Hello there,
My dad gave me his old two stroke engine that was used for a brush cutter because it wouldnt start. Its a 2.5 HP petrol 53cc engine, dont know anything about the model. Upon troubleshooting the engine I noticed that it was very hard to crank. When I took the spark plug out it was a bit wet. I cranked the engine to see if there was any spark and sure enough there was. Strangely, when the spark plug was out, the engine cranked much easier. This lead me to think that it was an air intake issue. Took the carburator appart and the gaskets were all disintegrated. Didnt notice anything blocking the air intake. Maybe one of the gaskets was blocking it. Didnt crank the engine afterward but tomorrow Im going to have a look at it again because I want to fit the engine to a bike.
My question is, could the broken gaskets make the engine harder to crank? Any idea why it is hard to crank. Please let me know, any help is much appreciated!:)
