You kinda have be carefull when lookin for a cheap banshee to buy. yea most of all the good ones I see they want around 3500 or more. but sometimes you get lucky and find a good one cheap.

our second banshee we got, traded a nice running blaster for it. it was pretty ragged out, i mean you could tell somebody rode the shit outta it, and the guy only wanted 1500 for it. but it had a couple nice extras like TCS front shocks and pro circuit exhaust and some other things. it ran but the motor was on its last leg. lol we didnt even ride it when we got it home, just rolled it from the back of the truck and into our shop to started disecting the bitch. it turned out alittle worse than we first thought. the cylinders were really fucked up and I think bored .80 over or more. somebody drilled out all the head studs and used bolts to bolt the head on. they even drilled down into the exhaust ports and the water jackets :angry5: . and it had some heavy case damage from a chain derailment and every thing in the flywheel side was pretty fucked up too, looked like somebody took a hammer and beat the shit out of it.

we ended up buying some new jugs on ebay off a 2005 bike, got a new crankshaft and new topend and everything and a few other things and shee's running great now. I'd really like to find some new top and bottom cases that aint busted though.

but whats funny is we dont know what year it is :confused7 . the number on the motor is ground off, the number on the frame is like a 2000 or newer, and its got a rear end of a 87 (different carrier and sprocket hub than the newer years). and it has yellow and grey fenders like on a 96 or 97. they guy we got it from said his guess was that its a 97 from going buy the plastics, so thats just what we call it

A perfect looking banshee is only as good as the motor. You could find out 2 days later that the motor is fried and the cases junk. THen your screwed with a 3500 pile of shit. I rather get something like evil that is known to be a pile of shit then make it nice

Ture, it's easier to get something when you know exactly what it is, so you can spend less to get it, and then put the money into it to make it a bad ass machine

Yep, same here, I bought mine for 500 bucks with everything cept the T-6's, spend a grand on it and 4 weeks and you see what it is now...and ebay. You can find reasonable quads on there for around 2500 or 3000, some are pretty nice also.

I got lucky, Picked up my 2001 for $2200. Looked great and ran ok. The dude didnt know how to jet it, so when he put the pipes on he ran it a little lean. Then I jetted it and it screamed again, but shattered a piston skirt. The dude running it lean gave it piston slap and bad compression, but 400 bucks later it good as new.

A frame-up re-build is the best way to go. You will learn every bolt and nut, what it does, what goes where, and so on......Redoing the motor is the best way to learn, also. I had never touched a Banshee motor before the one I have now, but could re-build ANY Shee motor now. They're really quite simple even if you have no prior experience w/ them

The best thing to do is get a cheap bike and rebuild it all up. Who wants to spend $3500+ on a 'good' bike and have it breakdown on you the first ride. I like to do things my own instad of hoping the previous owner knew what they were doing

I searched and searched for a quad... When i finally found my 01' standing up in someone's garage. I couldn't believe how clean it looked and couldn't wait to take it home. It's stock but it came with T5's. I took it home for 4 G's. I've seen them around for less, with nice upgrades but really bashed up. I might of paid a bit more but I think I made a good buy + I get to do my own upgrades from heren on.

i don't think that them being rare on the west coast has anything to do with it... but then again everything is more expensive in cali :p when i bought my bike the 5th gear didn't work.. the guy thought it would cost a ton to fix so he docked off like 600 for that.. little did he know that i can rebuild motors, so 52 bucks later and a few hours of time i was off racing with a brand new 5th

yeah, everything is so damn expensive. We have to pay the cost for having beaches, hollywood, the lakers, kings & dodgers all within a 25 minute drive.
