hi everyone,
I'm part way through rebuilding the front suspension on my 1981 CR125 and the manual says to put in the spring, spring seat, collar and then the top nut. I bought the forks on ebay (disassembled) and all is there except the collars. I then since sourced these, but am not sure where they fit? They are too wide to just slide down the top tube (thread for the top bolt prevents that), but the collars do have a cut along their length. Do I compress them and slide into the tube that way? Or will the spring then not fit properly? Or do I need the collars at all?
Here's a pic of one of the collars:
So i'm a bit stuck!
Many thanks
