Bigger carb? dude if you dont need it, dont get one.

I wanted more power with my 2001 yz125 so i bought a yz250.

Port jobs will not hurt the reliablity of your bike. Flotek did my shee and it runs w/o any problems and i beat on it.

I want to get my yz250 ported but i like my very very smooth powerband :)

A port job is your best bet. It's cheap. With the money you spend on a big bore, you could sell your 125 and buy a 250. I sold my 125 for $1700 and bought my 250 for about $2400. Well worth the money!

yea i told him that the bigger carb is not a must. i just was giving some options for more power. you know, a cheaper alternative to the expensive ass big bore that are like 1200 bucks lol

yeah i know but im saying a port job is real cheap compared to port job + carb or even a 144 athena kit etc. He could just do nothing and get a 250 for about the same price :). A nice 144 wont beat a bone stock 250.

I was thinking heavily on the port job and 144kit for my yz125 then mx on here kinda talked me into the 250 :)

in my opinion yo udont want a big bore kit they are a ripoff aqnd ive never seen one hold together very long and ive had the luxary of holding patented pro circuit cylinders in my hands . a bigger carb on your bike is only going to narrow the powerband and ultimatly make you go slower fro mpoint a to b ,dollar for dollar your best bet for an economical major powerup will be ditching your bike for a bigger 250

I first purchased a magnum big bore kit off eBay for my yz 250 …total thrash the head gasket doesn’t hold and there’s no o ring on the cylinder. Then I purchased a Athena big bore kit and quality is much better first problem I had was coolant leaking from jug so I just pulled it off put both supplied gaskets and it was good to go.,then I let it idle and it started overheating..after some thinking and post I decided to adjust my lectron carb to make it richer seemed to prevent the overheating so far.My plan now is to send it to the best imo Tom Morgan to do some porting etc $400 not too bad .I hope I save someone the trouble if you want a 250 big bore you should let Tom bore the stock and do his magic because the stuff out is not real good quality workmanship
