Announcement and update from Billy

Hey everyone...been a while since I popped in and made a formal announcement like this, but I've got something to share. As has been obvious over the past probably 2 years or so - I've not really had the time to put into the site that I did originally when I took it over from Jason back in the day. Life has its twists and turns a long the way, I have a real-estate business I started last year that I've been having to focus on pretty intently, and what little free time I had available now is gone with that.

A group that manages a lot of other forums called VerticalScope will be taking over things, and I think they have some pretty cool plans for the future of place. Things that I had the vision for but couldn't really ever make happen. They have some other sites you are probably familiar with like YFZcentral, TRX450r.org, SVrider.com (Already a member there!) just to name a few. We've had some server issues and such in the past trying to keep things up and running smoothly that they'll work out as well. I think pretty much everything else will be staying about the same, rules, terms, moderators and admin personnel, etc.

I definitely plan to still pop in from time to time, and to share further developments and information with you guys two-stroke related. The Rotax-250R project, the expansion chamber I built, all were projects I did just on the side for my love of building and tinkering around with two-stroke motors. There are some incredibly smart and gifted folks here on this board like John Tice that have an unwavering willingness to share their life time worth of experience and tricks of the trade, and everyone else that has ever contributed and offered something thought provoking - that is what has made this place cool, and still survive despite the slower activity over the years. Thats what make this place different.

I plan to still be around and share some projects and information, ask questions as I did before to those smarter than me. Perhaps I'll have a little bit more time to do some of that when I wont have to be running the controls and pulling levers on the back end of the website :) I really want to build a cafe racer 2-wheeler around the Rotax powerplant, or maybe build another one specifically for that sometime. I doubt I'll ever quit messing around with this stuff.

Hello everyone,

My name is Philip, I am a community manager for Verticalscope.com, I work with a small team that will continue to manage the webmaster duties for Billy on everything2stroke.com along with the current moderator team.

We are here to help primarily with the technical end of things and help make the jobs of the current Mods/Admins easier. I posted a real basic run down to answer common questions below. If you have more questions or concerns please feel free to post them in response.

What are our intentions?

We bring reliability, support and the infrastructure needed to ensure that the community will continue to be around for years to come. It’s our goal to work with the mod/admin team to help provide the resources and required work to give this community a broader reach, to attract new members, and to better the overall knowledge shared in the community.

Will leadership change?

Continuity is the focus here, YOU as the membership work very hard to keep building this community while your mod/admin team keep the walls and the roof up in this place; we are primarily here to make sure the lights stay on. Every community is unique and should always be respected in that regard. You all have established your own unique rules and regulations and a strong reputation that is carried by all of this. For us it’s paramount to maintain this level of integrity and enthusiasm.

What am I here for?

Our primary role is to be the technical contact; you all contributed to building the strong foundation the site was built on. Moving forward we will all work together to keep the momentum and the community growing. We will be on the forum checking in daily to make sure regular maintenance is taken care of and keeping things running smoothly from behind the scenes. We will also be setting up a help desk on the site for when you have questions or issues with the site or your account and need assistance.

Looking forward to working with you all.

Thanks,

Philip

Turning Custom Cylinder Sleeves Since 1971

Hello Friends; I’ve been a thread contributor for some 4 years now with “How it’s Done”. Thanks to the power of the internet I’m overwhelmed with work. I’ll continue with my technical cylinder thread although not as often until I can get a hold of my workload. My specialty & only specialty is custom cylinder sleeve manufacture & related projects. Stay tuned with your questions & comments, timely answers will follow.

just saw this… i would like to see traffic in the site pick up. i try to be on here as much as possible but I'm also in the nj national guard that takes up a lot of my time as i fly with the uh 60's. any plans for increasing site traffic?
Ok so who do i need to talk to about this sudden charge to my paypal again?
I made it clear the first time this happened i wanted to remain a non supporting member.
So why after not supporting this site for so long do i see a sudden charge for $10 again?
This use to be the greatest site on the web till billy purchased it.
Since then its a ghost town because of garbage like this going.
Do us all a favor billy, Jus give or sell this site to someone that actually gives a crap and isnt taking my money without my permission?
The site could possibly be saved. We continue to get new members that are not getting their confirmation email to activate their account. Lets fix it or shut it down.
My problem has been for the last few years I NEVER get site subscription emails! NEVER. If I subscribe to a thread no notifications make it into my email. I believe that is one reason traffic has died. I've checked my SPAM and never have E2S stuff in there either.
Im officially volunteering for admin maybe i can help... not much i do as a mod.....
Just wondering what could be done to bring life back to this site ? Used to love coming here but now it seems like it's several days between new post's. Is Facebook the enemy here or does nobody tinker with 2 strokes anymore? What happened?

Love those kind of pipes
My 2 stroke cylinder sleeve installs are as busy as ever, I don’t see many LT cylinders though. Twin water sports cylinders have been busy this summer, also Kawasaki KX cylinders. What limits sleeve installs mostly depends on pistons & oversize availability.
Many people have the idea that the plated cylinders dissipate heat much better than sleeved cylinders. I disagree; both plated & sleeved cylinders take the same skirt clearance with Wiesco pistons. I will say that every cylinder that we sleeve, we give an extra .0005” of skirt clearance. The last .0005” in piston diameter is difficult to determine.
Many times we get cylinders which have already been sleeved. The first replacement is usually botched by a loose fitting sleeve.

I also prefer sleeved over plated.
U make that pipe freddy?

I used to be a supporting member and a vender on this site. It was my favorite site to come to, hell it was my homepage for a long time. I have spent countless hours here reading, writing, learning, helping, and most of all making friends. Most of the friends I made on this site I still talk to on a personal basis. I do miss this site honestly, and I know a lot of others feel the same way. Once Billy took over it kind of went down hill, not blaming him but it is what it is. Also Facebook has a lot to do with it to. Lets get the site's functionality working correctly and maybe we can get some traffic back like it was in the old days.
