Airbox Lid Blues

First off, just like the last thread, this site is great.... keep up the good work. I'm 24, I've loved banshees all my life but could never afford one until now. I picked up a steal with too much to list (just got it 2 days ago, race ready). The only problem is that I love to just go trail riding on sunday's until we get to the hillclimbs and the playgrounds. That's where my lack of an airbox lid kinda gets in the way. I ordered an outerwear for the K&N filter to see what that will do, but I don't want to mess up the jetting by getting a lid for it. My friend has a lil different setup with six 1" filters drilled into his lid. I just don't know if that will be enough.

Has anyone seen/used the Motoforce lid? It's on page 454 of the Chaparral catalog #63 if that help any. The picture in the magazine isn't the one for the Banshee and I couldn't find any pictures of it anywhere. It allows more air in while "directing debris away".

If anybody's got any ideas it'd be appreciated. It doesn't seem like a major problem (I took it through a small creek yesterday and tried to mash on it a lil to see if any came in and I only saw a drop or two), but I'd like to have piece of mind.

P.S.- I'll update the list of mods as soon as I get a chance....

Don't waste your time with the little filters for the airbox. I got a set of those with my toomey pipes and they suck. Most of the time after a good ride I find some of the filters in the bottom of my air box.

Here is a link to a company that makes a lid with a cut in the middle and then an outerwear stretched across the top looks really good and should not mess up your jetting to bad.

If you go with the outerwear for around the filter make sure it is the water proof version. Not sure why but they have 2 versions. That would be the cheapest way to go.

Take some pictures and post them on the site.

Hope this helps
I'll have to let you know what type of small filters my friend has been using because he's had them for the last 2 years and they have never fallen out.

Before I posted I already had an order in through Nac's for the waterproof outerwear for my K&N so I'll let you know how that works out. Where's that link at for the different airbox lid? I'll still check it out because I'd like to have my options open for a rainy riding day.

I'll get some pics in soon. I took some with a disposable that I've had since January and they look like crap so I'm not even gonna waste time transferring them.

Thanks for the help!!
Sorry about that totally forgot the link

The filters that I got are from a Toomey Pipe Kit. The biggest problem is they do nothing for water getting in to the airbox.
Sweet lids

That link to the airbox lid looks great. I might have to give that one a try too. If anyone's got a spare lid lyin around for a banshee let me know I'll give you a few bucks for it. If not I'll just pick one up on ebay. I don't see spendin $100 for a brand new lid with the cover built in. I'm just gonna get the "do it yourself" kit for $50. :D

i use the K&N filter lid with waterproof prefilter..works great
I have the EHS lid set up on my Shee that Banshee mentioned and I love it! The little 1 inch filters fall out if not glued in and if you ride trails they clog in about 10 minutes and become useless.
