i have a ported blaster with a shearer pipe and a 34mm pj

the issue is down low about 1/4 throttle i have a sputter/dead spot

i have tried various jets main/pilot and about every clip on the needle

now i have a uni clamp on filter with a velocity tube thats 6" long

i am getting rid of the clamp on and putting on a cfm airbox that should be here today, reason for the airbox-better protection for the filter since i race hare scrambles

and ideas will the cfm box be easier to tune with then the clamp on :thanks:

what gap are you running the plugs? it sounds like the transition from low(pilot) to the mid(needle) isnt smooth. do you have other needles you can try?

timing is at stock right now, might change it back to +4

and the shearer pipe is not a drag pipe flotek its a low to mid trail pipe

i hope to get my cfm box tomorrow maybe that will make it easier to tune

yeah the pj is a lil tricky i got mine and it took a while to figure it out. it works pretty well once its dialed though def sounds like a pilot and needle setting to me . what gears does it sputter? does it clear out the higher gear you go?

the pj carb from my experience is a pain in the ass! The lack of a idle screw has to be the worst part of the design. My brothers blasty is running a 34pj but will soon be replace by a 33mm airstyker. Try turning the airscrew in 1/8 increments till you have a crisp rev... 1/4 throttle response is controlled mainly by the airscrew and pilot jet....

starts on second kick and it does have an idle adjustment you just turn the choke knob

i got my air box on and it seems better still need to do some more fine tuning

thanks for your help guys
