Does anyone own/know anything about a 1995 KTM MXC 550 2-stroke dirtbike?
What are the like compared to KX500s?
How much power do they put out?
How hard is it to get parts for them?

Great bikes...yes more power than KX or CR 500.

I have a 96 550 most powerful bike you will ever ride lots of vibration , can compare to nothing its the strongest 2-stroke ever built.parts are hard to get plastics almost impossible / you can stil get some engine parts easily tho.

How about a cut and paste of this discussion. I'm not a member there and while I like that KTM has continued the 2 stroke evolution, I don't want to join there. I've read a lot about the KTM 550's and they were the most powerful, but are very rare and hard to get parts for that are expensive also(like all KTM's parts--expensive). I love big bore 2 strokes and own a 85 cr500. Great bike with tons of power, but the mags back in the day did rave about the KTM's. Too bad they didn't sell more of them. If you really want the most powerful big bore then look at the Zabel motors. I'm happy with my 85cr500 and honestly see no reason for more power, but I'm not a pro or a hillclimber. I love all the big bores, but only own one. Long live the dinosaurs!!!

i wouldnt say their extemely rare, i got 3 of em and a garage full of spare parts :Smoke:. but your correct they arent as common as hondas

good bikes but they are known for their pistons cracking around the boost port, ive read that the 87 and up 500s had more top end horse 550s were rated for 60 horse and the 87 and up 500s were rated for 65 horse

I am just waiting on my rear shock to be rebuilt then I can reassemble my '95 550MXC, does anyone have a source or an extra set of decals they want to sell? Plastics are good, decals are OK, just a couple of places they are starting to curl.
