We started with what most zilla's are at that age tired and worn. Through this project you will see a Quadzilla get rebuilt from the frame up. You will see step by step every process that we take with this build. We are currently looking for people or businesses that are willing to donate to this project if intrested please click here
Stage 1 Frame
We started with a complete 1987 Zilla and striped it down to a bare frame. It is important to check all of the bolt holes to see what needs to be tapped. With older machines you are going to find you probably have a few. It is not a big deal just make note of it so you can tap it after it gets back from the painter or powdercoater.
We chose to send the motor out to get powdercoated. The frame was sandblasted down and cleaned up. During the cleaning NorthEast Powder Tech noticed a crack on the thre frame. Not a major crack it was where the seat latch bolts to on the back of the quad. It is good that they found this because it would be very hard to fix this after powdercoating. This is why it is very important to know who you are going to or have references from someone you can trust.
We decided to go with Hammerthrow Blue on this frame. It keeps the color close to stock but give it that extra WOW when someone looks at it up close
If you are intrested in getting something powdercoated we recommend talking with Bill Sr. at
